Best Place to stay in Diani Beach – Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa
Diani Beach, a friendly town set among the twists and turns of Kwale county, is a hub of superb food, cultural activities, and entertainment. There are plenty of exciting things to do and wonderful places to explore, and any excuse will do to take advantage of the blue skies and warm sunshine that make Diani come alive.
We stayed at the Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa as part of a two-night staycation, where we had fantastic meals and enjoyed amazing views of the sandy beach. Here’s a full evaluation of Diana Reef Beach Resort & Spa to help you #TembeaKenya.
Where exactly is the hotel?
The hotel is located in Diani Beach, South Coast Kwale County. Take a peek at the screenshot of Google Maps above. Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa is at a fantastic location for travelers, with easy access to all of the important landmarks in Diani and Ukunda. Visitors to the hotel can easily explore the neighborhood on foot, where they will find a wealth of entertainment, cultural, and conservation opportunities, or they may take an Uber to get to places a little further afield, such as the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa, in my opinion, is a fantastic spot to base oneself!
How to get to Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa?
Getting to Diani Reef has never been easier, thanks to an amazing airstrip. If you are flying internationally, you may need to transit through Moi International Airport in Mombasa before boarding a local aircraft to Ukunda.
A number of low-cost airlines now fly straight to the Ukunda Airstrip from Nairobi, so it could be a realistic choice if you’re wanting to save money on flights.
Keep note that you’ll need to get from Ukunda Airstrip to Diani Reef. The most convenient method is to hire a car, but it can also be done by TukTuk, hotel transfer, or even Uber.
Another alternative is to drive yourself to Diani Beach via the Likoni canal. This will take approximately 40 minutes and will allow you to enjoy seeing the gorgeous Kwale county.
What are the rooms like?
We stayed in a Standard garden room with a Sea View for two nights and were blown away by the room size and the breathtaking views of the sea.
Our room was on the top floor, nestled in the corner of the hotel corridors. The spacious terrace ran around the front and side of the suite, providing us with breathtaking views of tropical vegetation and the white sandy beach.
The balcony was pretty large, with two seats if you wanted to sit outside the apartment. The balcony and the room were separated by a glass door, which provided enough light and a clear view of the outside even when locked from within.
The suite was spacious on the inside, with a bed and a sitting space that included a desk, chair, and flat-screen television. With such a beautiful view outside, having a living area of this size was ideal since, with the drapes drawn open, we felt as if we were on the beach the entire time, even when we were sitting inside.
Let us now discuss the food.
When it comes to food, guests at Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa will be spoiled for choice. There are numerous excellent coffee spots and spot bars located throughout the property. But first, I’d want to discuss the buffet.
Dinner was a la carte due to Covid19 restrictions, as were all meals except breakfast. This, however, should not deter you. Breakfast was the finest, in my opinion, because we had so many options to choose from. Fresh fruits, cereals, sausages, bacon, tea, coffee, and many other items are available. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all provided in the same location.
I didn’t enjoy the dinner because there were only a few alternatives to choose from. This is an area that I believe management should pay attention to. Aside from that, the food was generally good.
What other amenities does the hotel provide?
While we spent the majority of our time relaxing in our rooms, eating wonderful meals, and touring, it’s important to mention the hotels’ additional amenities. The on-site gym was fully equipped. While not large, the gym provides a wide range of machines and free weights for wonderful exercise!
The Maya Spa at Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa was spectacular; if you enjoy spas, you will adore this location. The Maya Spa provided a wide range of therapeutic treatments such as steam, facial, Rasoul, Jacuzzi Spa Bath, and so on.
Almost every corner of the hotel has a swimming pool, some of which are a few meters long. The majority of them were not in use, but there was one enormous pool overlooking the beach that had a number of guests splashing and swimming for the whole of the day.
There are a lot of hotels in Diani Beach, so when it comes to choosing one, you really have to look at what makes them unique. Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa stood out to me because of its ideal position, breathtaking views, and delicious tasting menu.
For out-of-town visitors, the hotel has everything you could want, including fantastic eating options, a handy location, and comfortable surroundings. The location is ideal for locals on a staycation who want to take advantage of all the fantastic entertainment and culinary options around. As residents, we enjoyed strolling around the neighborhood and admiring the artwork and paintings for sale on the side of the roads.
The hotel is stylish and quiet, making it suitable for anybody from a couple on a weekend break to a family visiting from abroad or even someone on a business trip.
Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, I recommend stopping by Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa. It was a truly memorable vacation for us, and it was well worth the trip.
